Stained Light Studio is operated by a one woman show! I deeply enjoy creating and I love working with my hands. To earn an income, I have been a pastry chef, (indoors too much), landscaping (too physically demanding for the long term), and being a veterinary technician (not enough creative outlet), I also spend 10 years in the military. Sprinkle on a few other employment choices and I found myself spending any availbale time as a serial crafter. I enjoy crocheting, knitting, gardening. I dabbled in ceramics, woodworking and decorating my funky old house.
I have always been drawn to glass, hence my antique mason jar collection, along with jars and bowls that I adore.
I am incredibly fortunate to have found a passion for an art form that I am good and enjoy. I taught myself this craft during the pandemic after my start-up raised garden bed business didn't get going due to the high influx of pandemic DIY. While I enjoyed making the garden beds, it didn't scratch that creative itch.
When I first began, I used a grinding stone to shape each piece of glass after cutting. I made 20 origami fish this way and then upgraded to an electric grinder.... now I was in business. Years later and I still feel that creative spark and get excited to see my designs come to life.
